The Life Of A Not So Ordinary Wife || Guest Post

Hey guys, have you heard of Melissa yet?  She's been hanging out in my sidebar for a while now so you just might already know her.  She blogs at The Life Of A Not So Ordinary Wife and she has some exciting news to share with everyone and I was excited to give her this opportunity to share it with you.

Hello! I am Melissa and I blog over at The Life of a Not So Ordinary Wife. I am a not so simple girl who obsesses over a new hobby about every week or so which let me tell you comes in handy when you're looking for new blog material! I've been married for 7 years to the love of my life and have been a pastors kid almost my full 27 years of living. Exciting, I know! I also have the whole sarcasm thing down pretty well ;) I have been blogging since February of this year and it has already taken over my world. HA, I LOVE it, like seriously love it. Oh and the friends I'm making while I'm doing something I love... ya, crazy, I know.

Enough about me, today I am here to tell you about my new pride and joy, my new baby, the cheese to my macaroni, the icing to my cupcake, the pop to my tarts... Bet you are wondering what I'm talking about right about now. You guessed it! My new shop!!!!! AND THE CROWD GOES WILD!

I am so beyond excited to introduce to you The Not So Ordinary Shop. In the shop I am selling some fabulous Camera Strap Covers.

Why, you say? Well I bought my first DSLR about a month ago and I sewed a strapped for it because the Canon strap that it came with was totally DRAB. I first looked online everywhere for strap covers and I had a hard time finding really cute ones for under $25. I thought it doesn't seem like they should cost that much. So I started thinking about starting a shop where I could sell fabulous camera strap covers at a price everyone could afford. As soon as I told my husband he was behind me 110%, I mean he was writing notes and building equations, I was impressed. I said, if you are in, I am in... SO HERE WE ARE!

Now who doesn't need their camera all glammed up?  The camera strap covers are easily changeable and slides over your existing camera strap! The default measurements are approximately 25" long and 2.5" wide and will fit any DSLR camera. We also do custom measurements at no extra charge.

We have a lot of different designs in the shop right now, but there are no set designs, so when you see one you like grab it because it might be the last time you will see that exact one. We will be getting new designs all the time, so keep checking back.

THE GOOD NEWS...
In the store the covers start at $10 each plus shipping, but in celebration of the grand opening you can use the code "CELEBRATE" and get them 25% off, which means some straps are only $7.50 plus shipping!!

Thanks for letting me share my new camera straps with you and don't forget to stop by my blog and/or shop and say Hi!

Cool right?  How cute are those camera straps?  So cute and fun.  Go snatch yours up with her discount code while you can!  Congratulations on your shop Melissa!!

Featured Spotlight:: Sue @ Hello. Also, I Love you.

Welcome back Sue from Hello. Also, I Love you.  Sue lives in Japan and shares about her life there with her husband and her puppy Twink.  I love hearing all about the food, seeing and hearing about all the cool places, and get super excited when she does giveaways.  :)
************************************************************************

Sue // Hello. Also, I Love you.

Hello to all Salena's lovely followers! I'm Sue and I blog at Hello. Also, I love you. I write about everything that's on my mind. I'm not crafty (although I pretend), I'm not a chef (again, I pretend), and I have no adorable children to photograph (although I do have the worlds cutest puppy, Twink). My husband is Aaron and he's in the Air Force but I don't talk about that much either. We live in Japan. I love to take pictures. I dance my way through life. I love to laugh. I write about my ordinary life and how I make it EXTRA-oridnary.

WHO has inspired you lately?

My baby sister, Shelly. I use the term "baby" lightly since she's only 14 months younger than me. She's 24, 7 months pregnant with my very first niece, and graduating college in 3 weeks. She's worked hard to pay for college herself and no matter what else she does in life she'll always have that experience. She's pretty awesome.

WHAT is your favorite color?

I love purple! So much that our wedding colors were black & every shade of purple I could find.

WHERE is your favorite vacation spot?

On a cruise ship. Seriously. I've been on 2 cruises so far in my life and Aaron and I are planning on several more. I love having everything I need in one central place but also getting to visit several locations all in one trip!

WHEN was the last time you did something special for yourself?

Oh man... I got awesome birthday presents but that was my hubby spoiling me. He does so much for me and I prefer to do things for him. I guess I bought myself a bread maker so I could have fresh, hot bread anytime I want. That was for Aaron too though...

Tell me something you wish others would know about you and WHY?

I'm so open on my blog that it's hard to think of something people don't know. Here's something: I LOVE to get mail. Absolutely love it. And people should know this because if you want to be pen pals and send me mail I will send you AWESOME things in return. I live in Japan after all!

Random things about me...

  1. I used to be a nail biter & always tried to stop because it was such a bad habit. Then I stopped worrying about it and I stopped biting. I'm still not sure how it happened.
  2. I have an unnatural obsession with buying clothes for my dog. I am definitely a crazy dog lady.
  3. I told Aaron I will have as many kids as he wants... as long as they're all boys. If I have to have girls I'm only having 2!
  4. I don't like the number "1" and Aaron chose our wedding date to be 11-11-11. I'm fairly certain he did it just to bug me. He claims he did it so it was easy to remember.
  5. My family calls me Suzie.

Featured Spotlight:: Ashley @ Mommy... A Work in Progress

This is Ashley from Mommy... A Work in Progress.  She has a lovely blog where she shares all things family and shares great tips too.  I'm sure you'll love her as much as I do.  Enjoy!

*********************************************************************

My name is Ashley and I am a stay at home mom to two little ones who are 16 months apart. I started my blog as a way to document our lives and as a creative outlet for myself. It has becomes so much more since then. On it you will find recipes, tutorials, our everyday adventures and maybe a little fashion thrown in there too. Stop by and say hi!

WHO has inspired you lately?

My children inspire me on a daily basis. They remind me to slow down and really appreciate the little things. They have such a zest for life and a natural curiosity.

WHAT is your favorite color?

I love shades of  pink and blue.

WHERE is your favorite vacation spot?

This is a tough one, but I think I would have to say Palm Springs. It isn't too far of a plane ride and I love the desert weather.

WHEN was the last time you did something special for yourself?

Hmm... I had a massage a few weeks ago and it was amazing! I hold all my tension in my shoulders and back and there is a lot of tension!

Tell me something you wish others would know about you and WHY?

I can be a bit guarded because of my insecurity. So, if I am quiet when I meet you it's because of that. I really do love meeting new people and making friends but sometimes my own "issues" can hold me back. I can seem a little uptight, but I am really lots of fun!

Random Facts:

  1. I have a birth mark on the underside of my tongue that looks like a watermelon seed
  2. I have a weird fascination with sharks. I have swam with them twice and even held one!
  3. I am allergic to kiwis!
  4. I have a serious aversion to mayonnaise. Ick!
  5. Blake Shelton is my celebrity crush (well, one of them). :)

Featured Sponsor:: Kate @ A Creative Cookie

Welcome Kate from A Creative Cookie.  I have just recently found out about her blog and she makes me want to go out and create pretty things.  I have been wanting to go out and get me some washi tape but knowing me it will probably just sit there.  I have a thing with admiring pretty things rather than using them.  Anyone else this way?  =)
***************************************************************

Photobucket

Hi there! I'm Kate. I write over at my little corner of the sky, A Creative Cookie. I love sharing ideas, life, and crafts with others!

WHO has inspired you lately?

Laura at Our Reflection has a weekly photo challenge. It has inspired me to look at certain things with a different perspective. Plus, it has inspired me to start thinking of holding my own challenge!

WHAT is your favorite color?

Definitely aqua/turquoise. I also recently found that I have a love for yellow!

WHERE is your favorite vacation spot?

I love standing on the beach. Any beach really. I love the sound of the waves and the smell of the water.

WHEN was the last time you did something special for yourself?

A few weeks ago I bought some craft stuff and Washi tape over at Target. I can't wait to start crafting!

Tell me something you wish others would know about you and WHY?

I wish others would know how much I LOVE all their sweet comments! Each one means the world to me, and I think that they don't understand that.

Random Facts:
  1. I love huge drops on roller coasters and log rides
  2. My favorite stores to shop at are Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Bed Bath and Beyond, Joann, and Target.
  3. I have egg cartons and plenty of boxes that are waiting for crafts
  4. I love watermelon more than I love Winter (and that's saying something!)
  5. I am picky about what I read, but I am in love with The Hunger Games series and Harry Potter.

Featured Spotlight:: Leigh-Ellen @ Little Waterlily in a Big Pond

Welcome to Leigh-Ellen from Little Waterlily in a Big Pond.  I just love her answers to these questions.  We have just met but you may already know her.  Enjoy!
*****************************************************************************

Leigh-Ellen // Little Waterlily in a Big Pond

I started my blog to keep our friends and family on the other side of the pond (Husband is British and I lived in England for 4 years) up to date on our lives. It's sort of evolved (devolved??) from there. I'm a sucker for all things pretty, shiny, frilly and girly. Most importantly I'm a wife, a fur-parent and a friend so expect a lot of personal photos and bragging about the crazy exploits of my golden retriever- Sadie, our new kitten- Spock and the cat who runs our lives- Trilly.

WHO has inspired you lately?

I'm easily distracted so I think I get inspired by people, blogs, billboards every day and then promptly just decide I came up with it all on my own. Honestly there are too many individuals to name but, very very oddly, I just finished a book about Madame Tussauds (yes, of the wax museum fame) which I found intriguing. It inspired me in many ways not the least of which is that I now want to visit a wax museum.

WHAT is your favorite color?

My favourite colour (notice the Canadian spelling on both those words?) is Purple. I've loved it since I was little. My prom dress and my bridesmaids dresses were practically the same shade of purple. If an item is purple I pretty much want it. I have convinced myself not to buy purple lamps but I'd pause to think about it.

WHERE is your favorite vacation spot?

I love to travel though the opportunities have slowed down since I got a "real" job, bought a house and got three fur-babies. I feel like my favourite (there's that Canadian spelling again) vacation spot is somewhere I haven't been yet. Husband and I like exploring new places together. I like it to be warm and sunny but he votes for not too warm!

WHEN was the last time you did something special for yourself?

Does stealing half of Husband's Easter candy count? I'm not always good at doing things just for me... or maybe I'm so spoiled I don't notice them anymore. Hmm... I should think about that. I don't have kids so I manage to protect my reading in the bathtub time pretty well.

Tell me something you wish others would know about you and WHY?

I talk when I'm nervous. I talk when I'm excited. I talk when I'm comfortable. If' I'm not talking something is probably wrong. Try to find it endearing.

Random Facts:

  1. I'm from the East Coast of Canada. When traveling I tell people that and they say "Toronto?" and I say "Sure". Heck, I had students in the UK who swore up and down that Canada was right next to Australia because that's what it looked like if you folded the map around. Obviously my classroom needed a globe.
  2. I get headaches on days ending in "y". It sucks. My brothers make fun of me for it. I love my little brothers but they're mean.
  3. I can get a sunburn in pretty much any weather. I don't tan. My husband makes fun of me for it. I love my husband but sometimes he's mean too.
  4. I was scared of dogs until I was a teenager and was never a big fan of cats. Somehow I now have a dog and two cats. I'm confused by this. I also now find lolcats adorable. I'm concerned by this.
  5. I hate raisins (as a child we couldn't say we hated things, just "it's not my favourite"). I do not understand why people insist on ruining wonderful things like butter tarts, oatmeal cookies and apple strudel with raisins.

Featured Spotlight:: Summer @ Made by Munchie's Mama

Welcome Summer from Made by Munchie's Mama!  Summer is so sweet and I absolutely LOVE her style! Gorgeous and super talented, wife and momma of 2 darling little boys.  She is here today to share more about herself, I'm sure you will love her just as much as I do.  =)

********************************************************************

My name is Summer and I am the all over the place mama behind Made By Munchie's Mama. I work, I wife, I mama and occasionally I am just Summer. I have 2 little boys: Munchie who is 2 aka Gavin and Dylie Bear who is 7 months aka Dylan.  My hubby and I are just like every other couple: struggling to find the work, parent, spouse balance and taking things one day at a time.  On my blog you will find me writing about fights I have with my hubby, mama guilt, what I wear on Wednesdays, and stuff they don't tell you about parenthood before you get pregnant.  I also throw a good ole' tutorial around every now and then.  I like to make pretty things and if they are pretty enough, they make it into the shop.

Questions:

WHO has inspired you lately?
Ashley from Lil Blue Boo is totally inspiring to me. Her courage and outlook on life amaze me daily and I am addicted to her blog!

WHAT is your favorite color?
I love grey, yellow, aqua and of course pink

WHERE is your favorite vacation spot?
My husband and I went to Jamaica 3 years ago and I still think about how beautiful the beach was and how warm the water was...it was amazing and I would LOVE to go back!  My other fav is Lake Havasu.  My family went there every weekend when I was a kid and I have so many wonderful memories. Now Lennie and I take the kids with his family once a year.  I cherish those new memories we are making as our little family.

WHEN was the last time you did something special for yourself?
I got my hair colored last night to cover up my handsome little grey patch that has so graciously taken residence right under my swoopy bangs.

Tell me something you wish others would know about you and WHY?
I have fights in my head all the time. When I get mad at Lennie or the crazy, angry lady behind me at a concert I hash it out in my mind.  I imagine the yelling that will transpire, how I will prove that I am of course in the right and the best part is...I win EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.  Then I get over what ever it was that made me mad and get over it. It really is a win win for everyone involved.

Random Facts:

  1. My elbows crack whenever I straighten them
  2. I have veneers on all 6 of my top teeth, it was a pretty sad sight pre dental work.
  3. I have 4 older brothers.  That's right folks: the youngest and the only girl, SCORE!
  4. I hate cartoons, like HATE
  5. Ever since having kids I can't wear heels for more than like 5 minutes.  I think I need to recondition my feet, they are such wussies!
