What If Money Didn't Matter, What Do You Desire?

I came across this video today which blew me away.  Not that we all haven't heard it before but this video truly hit home.  There was a time in my life when a co-worker asked the question:

"what if there was no such thing as age, if age didn't matter, would that change the way you think about your life or the decisions you make?"

From that moment on, it changed the way I viewed my life.  Watching this video did the same for me today as that question did back in 2004.

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a Cosmetologist.  Back when my oldest daughter was maybe 2 years old, I received a full grant to cosmetology school but decided it was best to go to work and help provide for our family.  I turned down the grant and walked away.  The desire is still there.

If I could choose something today it would be writing and inspiring others with my life experiences through this blog or however the opportunity presents itself.

If you choose what you desire and what you love, there is always a way to monetize it you just need to figure it out.

I urge everyone to watch this.  Take a step back and look at your life.  Make the changes you need to make to break the cycle.  Teach it to your children.  Pass this message along.

What if money didn't matter, what do YOU DESIRE?

What changes are you going to make to be truly happy in your future?  What do you love to do?

Guest Post:: To Inspire - Embrace Your Life

Have you heard of Embrace Your Life blog?  If you have not, you're missing out and need to go check it out.  If you have, you know what I'm talking about.  I have guest posted over there twice and both times were so encouraging and helped me to be more aware of myself.  Digger is here today to inspire you.

Hello. Thank you sooo much to Salena for having me over as a guest. :)

My name is Digger. I blog over at Digging Deeper full-time but my new passion is sharing my inspirations and thoughts with the readers of Embrace Your Life. We have such a wonderful varieties of writers that it's impossible not to find something to connect with that touches your heart and soul. These women, Cassie, Skye, and Sarah, are incredible! I seriously could not have dreamed of a more well-rounded and versatile group to be included in.

Our goal this month: To inspire.

So, as I was thinking and searching for inspiration I came across this film called "Send It Sistah" by film maker Sebastien Montaz-Rosset If you have a minute or two, you should really check it out. It's incredible!

I've watched it myself a few times already, and each time I get sucked into the feeling and the emotion of their passion. There's this one line, about half way through that gets me every time: "It makes me face myself. It's always scary. I want to see how far I can go."

I have been playing life too safe the last few weeks. I have been keeping everything close to the belt and making sure I don't get uneasy. This film has inspired me to be afraid again. To shake the bounds of monotony and push myself to fight for my passions.  I want to be those two girls and do something, just because I love to do it. Just because I want to feel the rush and satisfaction of pulling the boundaries and proving to myself that "I can".

I'm not necessarily looking for a giant monster to terrify me into submission. Just the butterflies in my stomach to let me know I'm really alive and I'm actually living.

"I want to see how far I can go."

Go check it out...  How are you living.?  Go... Embrace Your Life.

Three Months... not what I expected

Two days ago, this blog turned 3 months old.  When I started this blog, I did it so that I would have an outlet to share things that were on my heart, things that I am passionate about, things that I think need to be shared with others, things I am going through, random stuff, funny stuff… all in order to inspire others by sharing a little piece of me in this space, my own personal blog.

In the last 3 months I have been myself, open, real, honest, fearful yet knowing that what I have to say could impact the heart and ultimately the life of another.

I had no idea that each of you, who take the time to read my words, leave comments and follow me, were going to have such an impact on my life.
I have never met any of you in person, yet I feel there are some of you who are dear friends.  I wonder sometimes, if we would hit it off and pick up where we left off in blog-land.  Would the distractions of every day life with our kids in tow hinder us from the deep and rich soul bearing connections I sometimes feel we have by reading each other’s words?

For me, it is easy to connect on chat, Facebook, email, blog posts, and blog comments.  It allows me to respond the way I need to when I am able to without the pressure of forming my thoughts in person with my kids screaming, crying, tugging at me, and the many other daily things we all need to tend to.

I write this to acknowledge how grateful I am for those of you who have become friends, for those of you who are here constantly to encourage me and to offer your thoughts to the words I feel need to be shared.

When I first thought of starting my own blog, I just kept repeating to myself… “I am not a writer”.  I mean, who am I to write anything?  I am not grammatically correct; honestly, I have no clue about the structure of sentences and what types of words belong where.  But I thought, hey just be myself.  I think I do a pretty good job of using punctuation well enough to get my point across… well, I hope I do.

The one thing I have learned is I am drawn to those who are real and honest.  I am drawn by those who share things others would not dare to speak.  I noticed that when I do the same, I get the most comments.  We as human beings need to be validated in what we are going through and to know what we are thinking is normal, that we are okay.  No matter what we share there are others who can relate and who are there to encourage us in ways we would never imagine.

I believe that we are each placed at this specific time for a reason.  We are surrounded by people who God wants us to reach out to and by those God wants to use to reach out to us.  A friend made a comment recently... "I know who my REAL friends are because those are the ones who have stayed with me all these years and will NEVER leave me".  Well, you see, I see it differently.  People come into our lives when we need them and some go when they have served their purpose.  I believe that God molds us, teaches us lessons we need to learn, encourages us, brings us out of despair, shows us love, and so much more by carefully planning every encounter between us.  I am grateful for those who have served their purpose in my life and how their impact has changed my life.

I pray that my blog will be such an outlet for me to impact those around me.
