I am so excited to have the lovely Lacee here today from Mommas Like Me. She has been such an encouragement and consistent voice in the comments section of my blog.
I had the chance to do a Q&A with her to let us get to know her better. Here’s what she had to say.
I had the chance to do a Q&A with her to let us get to know her better. Here’s what she had to say.
1. Q: What is the most valuable lesson you have learned about yourself through blogging up to this point? To stop doubting myself, to believe in myself and to follow my dreams and passions. When I started my blog 4 months ago I had NO idea what I was doing. I had only been reading a few other blogs for a few months, but I loved what I read. I loved reading about other mommas and their experiences...they made me feel like I was not alone in this whole parenting thing. I wanted to be apart of the blogging community and share my ideas and stories, but I was afraid. Afraid of what my friends and family would think, afraid that nobody would read or care, afraid that I wasn't technically smart enough to figure everything out, afraid that I would be a big fat failure. Well, for once I pushed all those feelings aside and dove in head first. It's been a learning experience and continues to be, but I've learned that I am capable and that my dreams are worth fulfilling. I have met some amazing women through blogging and truly feel like I am apart of something far greater than I could have ever imagined. I love every minute of this journey and I can't wait to see what the future hold for Mommas Like Me.
3. Q: What is one piece of advice you would give a newly married couple? Hmmm...Probably that marriage is a lot of work...especially when you have kids. This is something that I didn't fully appreciate when I got married at the age of 19. We just celebrated out 10 year anniversary last month and even though it hasn't always been easy, its always been worth it. It takes patience, compromise, communication, team work and a whole lotta love. Never expect perfection from your mate...nobody is perfect. Use kind words to support and build each other up everyday. Never go to bed angry, but take time to talk it out. Pray together, dream together, laugh together, love together.

4. Q: What is the most important thing you wish for your son Carter? I hope that he grows up to be happy. That he'll be kind to others...a gentleman. That he'll have respect for women and for himself. That he'll always find joy in the little things. That he'll be a spiritual man and always look to God in everything he does. I hope that he learns from the example of his dad and grandpas and looks to them as he grows. I hope that he'll always believe in himself and that he can accomplish anything he puts his mind too. And most of all I hope he grows up to know how much he is loved and that his dad and I will always be there to support him.
5. Q: How do you balance your life? Are you the type of person who sticks to routines and schedules or easy going and laid back? Balance...oh boy. When it comes to balance, I feel like I am a constant work in progress. There is always so much more that I want to accomplish than I actually am able to. I've always been the type of person who does better when sticking to a routine and I tend to really hate it when my routine gets disrupted. But I am slowly learning to be more flexible and to prioritize. I know that somedays it is inhumanly possible to accomplish all that I have planned, and I try not be too hard on myself when I don't get everything on my list checked off. There are also somedays where I just throw my hands up in the air, put on my sweats and say screw it...there's always tomorrow!
6. Q: Are you a morning person or a night person? Definitely a night person. I despise having to get up early and I usually can't form complete sentences til' around 10am.
7. Q: Besides blogging and crafting, what do you love to do on your spare time? I LOVE to bake and I love throwing parties and entertaining {though I don't do it nearly as much as I'd like}. I love feeding people...haha :)

8. Q: If you could visit Hawaii what are 3 things off the top of your head that you must do once you get here? I would go to Maui and I would first: Head over to my FAVORITE breakfast place called The Gazebo and have a fat plate of banana pancakes...they are THE BEST EVER! Then I would head to Kaanapali beach for some surfing, snorkeling and relaxing. After that I would then head over to my FAVORITE restaurant in Maui called Hula Grill and eat my most favorite thing in the entire world...crab and macadamia nut wontons. AHHHMAZING! I'm drooling just thinking about them!
9. Q: How was your school years and how do you wish for things to be different for Carter? School was good for me. I only went to public school until 6th grade then was on an independent study program all the way through high school. I graduated a year early when I was 16. I started teaching dance when I was 14 and was really involved with that so I still had a lot of social interaction and didn't really miss going to public school. When I was in public school I struggled with being shy and not always having the courage to speak up and my greatest concern about Carter starting school was that he would have the issues that I did. Thankfully so far though, he is doing amazing :)
10. Q: Who is the most inspiring person to you at the moment? My husband. He is my everything. My rock, my happy place, my shoulder to cry on, my biggest supporter and my best friend. He inspires me everyday to be a better wife, momma, friend and me. He never criticizes all my crazy little endeavors, but stands behind me 100% in whatever I do. I admire and appreciate how hard he works for our little family. How he always makes time for our son and is such an amazing and involved daddy. And how as a husband he always makes me feel special, loved and safe. Without him, all that I have and love in my life would not be possible. I love him with all my heart.
