Valentine's Interview Series Day 13: Darcie @ My Overflowing Heart

I'm so excited to bring you this special Valentine's Day series.  I came up with some questions that would help us to get to know what others may be thinking about Valentine's Day.  I wanted to know what makes it special for them, what is their fondest memories, and their favorite things to do on this special day.  Towards the end you will a special message for their Valentine.

Today's Interview is with Darcie from My Overflowing Heart, here's what she has to say...

Darcie

What does Valentine's Day mean to you?
I means Chocolate me dreaming of a super nice date night. We'll see when the day comes right?
Share your most memorable Valentine's Day.
When my husband and I were dating he surprised me with candy and Valentines socks and a big stuffed hippo. That was the day of our first kiss as well.
What would be your ideal Valentine's Day?
I love spending time with my husband. With two babies we dont get that too often. For him to buy me chocolates and take me out to eat and maybe see a movie its good enough for me :)
Do you have a favorite Valentine's treat or craft that you do? If yes, please share. OR Favorite Valentine's item from your shop or favorite shop.
This year I made a valentine card on the computer for fun. My kiddo's aren't old enough yet to really understand it so they won't be handing out cards. & I am the cake ball maker around here so of course I had to make some! They are the best I've made so far. I love those little heart sprinkles!
Do you celebrate Valentine's Day  just on the day, does it need to be on the day, and/or do you celebrate all month?
This year, for the first time, we started celebrating weeks early. Hubby got me candy and I decorated the dining room. Next year I plan on decorating more and having my kids help.
Valentine's Day is about celebrating the ones you love. What does LOVE mean to you?
Love to me is unconditional. For better or worse. Love is this scripture: 1 Corinthians 13:1-13 - Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.  V. Day is another great reminder to put your other half first and treasure those moments even more than before.

Do you have any Valentine's Day traditions that you still follow as a grown up that your parent's did with you as a child?
I can just remember handing out cards in school. We never (that I remember) did a craft every year or something. When they are old enough they will hand out the little cards too & I'm going to buy them pajama's. I've had Riah's new PJ's waiting for her for two weeks. I almost gave them to her 3 times before my mom in law stopped me lol!
What is your most favorite thing about Valentine's Day?
Spending the time with family definitely. I'm sure it's only going to get better from here as the kids get older. It's full of candy, crafts, taking photo's and baking. What's not to love about that??
Your special message to your Valentine...
To my Mondo,
You've never failed to love everything about me. Never have you tried to change me, but make me a better person without even knowing it. You rescued me when we met and have taken care of me ever since. You've made my dreams come true, you make me happy. You make me laugh. Thank you for taking care of me =)

Valentine's Interview Series Day 12: Kristine @ The Foley Fam

I'm so excited to bring you this special Valentine's Day series.  I came up with some questions that would help us to get to know what others may be thinking about Valentine's Day.  I wanted to know what makes it special for them, what is their fondest memories, and their favorite things to do on this special day.  Towards the end you will a special message for their Valentine.

Today's Interview is with Kristine from The Foley Fam and J&M’s Eye Candy, here's what she has to say...

What does Valentine's Day mean to you?
Love, love and even more love!! Even tho it shouldn't take a "holiday" to get us to reflect on what's really important, I enjoy this time of year where people intentionally take the time to appreciate and be romantic with their loved ones.
Day dates sans sprouts are rare! The Hubs and I going thru a carwash. Most romantic couple of the year right!? I even put make up on to boot!
Share your most memorable Valentine's Day.
Last year was the best by far! Maggie was 7 months old, we were expecting Mia, to say there was lots of love to go round would be an understatement. We shared the day with our loved ones! Going for a walk and playing at the park in the AM, then spending time with Gpa and Gma, my brother and his fam, and my Mom and sister. The best Valentine's Day! Looking forward to topping it this year (wink).

Valentine's Day 2011
What would be your ideal Valentine's Day?
Taking the kids somewhere during the day to play play play! Then do an overnight with just the Hubs and I, someplace that has an in-suite hot-tub would be a must and room service would be nice :)

Do you have a favorite Valentine's treat or craft that you do? If yes, please share. OR Favorite Valentine's item from your shop or favorite shop.
Having two girls really amps up the girly factor, so I'm loving all the hues of pinks and reds that pop up around this time of year. It SCREAMS {love}! Lace is one of my favorite materials, and pink lace is even better! Here are some favs from my shop

As you can see it's a great mix of bright over the top (feathers) pieces, but also the more understated pieces with the deeps reds which I equally love. A different piece to match your different moods.
Do you celebrate Valentine's Day just on the day, does it need to be on the day, and/or do you celebrate all month?
Nope it doesn't matter what day. We really try to squeeze in as many "love" days/dates as we can all year long.

Valentine's Day is about celebrating the ones you love. What does LOVE mean to you?
It means staying together thru the good AND not so good times. The love I feel for Nate keeps growing everyday, and so does the love for our girls. Love for your child is unlike anything else. Until I knew that feeling, I didn't know my heart could hold so much love.
M&M doing what they do best, playing and loving :)

Do you have any Valentine's Day traditions that you still follow as a grown up that your parent's did with you as a child?
Writing "love notes" for each other

What is your most favorite thing about Valentine's Day?
A whole day dedicated to love? What's not to love?
Our fam of four last month at the Las Vegas Children's Museum.

Your special message to your Valentine...Nate, you are my best friend, the love of my life, my steady ground, my hubs, and my babies daddy, not to mention you are also incredibly sexy! You are simply the best. Thank you for everything you've done, and everything you're doing. We appreciate you. Thank you for taking care of me. You know me better than anyone else, and you love me despite my flaws. God has blessed us with each other. We have an incredible love for each other. Our love is real. Our love runs deep. Our love is grand. Our love is hard. Our love is fun. Our love is faithful. Our love is patient. Our love is forgiving. Our love is adventurous. Our love is passionate. Our love is here to stay. Our love keeps growing. I love you Nate, and I will continue to try to show you just how much every.single.day.

Valentine's Day this year is super special because it is our first one married!! :) Oh and it is an excuse to be treated like the princess for a day ;)

My most memorable Vday was 2007. We had a crazy blizzard all day and my hubs had waited til the last minute to go out and get my flowers. Definitely the most memorable!! <3
What would be your ideal Valentine's Day?
My ideal Valentine's Day would be dinner and a movie of my choosing!! Seems simple right? But the hubs has that ability to convince me to go see zombie/apocalypse movies every time lol
Do you have a favorite Valentine's treat or craft that you do? If yes, please share. OR Favorite Valentine's item from your shop or favorite shop.
My favorite treat for Valentine's Day is probably boxes of chocolate!! I love them and the surprise inside tehehe!! :) This year since I started crafting I also made a really cute heart chain out of an old book that I will eventually get up as a tutorial lol
Do you celebrate Valentine's Day just on the day, does it need to be on the day, and/or do you celebrate all month?
We celebrate Valentine's Day when we can because of the hubs wonky schedule lol
Valentine's Day is about celebrating the ones you love. What does LOVE mean to you?
LOVE means to me: hope, family, friendship, trust, admiration, surprise, warm fuzzies, glitter, sparkle, candy, pink, joy, celebration, appreciation and togetherness
Do you have any Valentine's Day traditions that you still follow as a grown up that your parent's did with you as a child?
I miss the days of buying those boxed cards and filling them all out and making sure everyone in class had one lol those were the best!

What is your most favorite thing about Valentine's Day?
The colors!! And flowers I love flowers!

Valentine's Interview Series Day 10: Tracy @ Dear Life, From a Mom of Boys

I'm so excited to bring you this special Valentine's Day series.  I came up with some questions that would help us to get to know what others may be thinking about Valentine's Day.  I wanted to know what makes it special for them, what is their fondest memories, and their favorite things to do on this special day.  Towards the end you will a special message for their Valentine.

Tracy ~ Dear Life, From a Mom of Boys

What does Valentine's Day mean to you?

Valentine's Day to me has multiple meanings. First, it's my Father in Law's birthday...so whatever he wants to do trumps our Lovey Dovey time. :) It is also an extra special day to remind my family how much I love them.  A few years ago, my hubby sent me two dozen roses and made me the best dinner ever. It was fantastic to be so spoiled! Simple...yet perfect.

What would be your ideal Valentine's Day?

It would be so nice to go back to our dating days.....since we've been married for seventeen years and we now have five kids our dates are considerably shorter than they used to be....I would love for him to go pick up our favorite sushi...some yummy dessert....and take us to the beach to watch the sunset. SO simple....but it's what we used to do and just haven't had the time.

Do you have a favorite Valentine's treat or craft that you do? If yes, please share. OR Favorite Valentine's item from your shop or favorite shop.
OH I JUST GOT THE CUTEST THING EVER...and it's so cute I may have to have it up year round...it's here on Landee See, Landee Do

I totally want my whole mantle to look like that...but I will have to build on it. This year...I got the "Every love story is beautiful, but ours is my favorite" sign. <3 it!

This year I got these little mini mailboxes at Target for one dollar each and I'm going to give a valentines treat to my boys each day!

Do you celebrate Valentine's Day just on the day, does it need to be on the day, and/or do you celebrate all month?
Usually just the day if we're lucky...and it definitely doesn't have to be on the day...but this year I do want to do a little extra since my 17 year old is going away to college.

Valentine's Day is about celebrating the ones you love. What does LOVE mean to you?
LOVE....to me the people that without question, without judgement I have fun with, care for, laugh with, and even battle for.

Do you have any Valentine's Day traditions that you still follow as a grown up that your parent's did with you as a child?
No, I'm trying to create my own! :)

What is your most favorite thing about Valentine's Day?
I love that everyone is trying to focus on LOVE...and how much we care for each other.

Your special message to your Valentine...
To my sweetheart...

I love you more than life! You make me laugh until my sides hurt and tears course down my cheeks! You do anything in your power to make me happy...even when I'm grumpy! You have learned to be a Disney nerd like me....and you are the most thoughtful man I have ever met. I am truly blessed to be married to you!

I love you..and you're my lobster!

Valentine's Interview Series Day 9: Ashley @ Mommy... A Work In Progress

Today's Interview is with Ashley from Mommy... A Work In Progress, here's what she has to say...

Ashley
What does Valentine's Day mean to you?
To me, Valentine's Day simply means celebrating love; love of any shape or form. It's a great excuse to remind all the important people in your life that you love them and that they are important to you. To me, it isn't so much about a grand gesture or a declaration of love, but more about all the little things.

Share your most memorable Valentine's Day.
I racked and racked my brain over this one and there isn't one Valentine's Day that really sticks out in my mind. However, the first Valentine's Day that my husband and I celebrated (while dating) was right after we had made it official that we were only going to see each other. I had gone out of my way to pick up a shirt that I had remembered him mentioning. He had flowers sent to me. I found out later (much later) that he totally spaced out on Valentine's Day and was running around at the last second trying to find someone who could deliver flowers. Oops! I let that one slide, we were only 18 and I was his first (and only!) serious girlfriend.

Now, I remember one! We went to a nearby Steakhouse and had to wait FOREVER to get in, but they were giving us free appetizers while we waited. When we finally got seated we were next to a large table that had obviously been brought in just for the occasion since they needed more tables. It didn't look too steady but was obviously doing the job. Mid way through our dinner the music turned down and a man started serenading his wife "Let's Stay Together". The whole restaurant got silent so they could listen and BAM! All of a sudden the table next to us collapsed! No joke. It just folded in on itself and all the food and plates went tumbling. Everyone just stared in horror. I felt so bad.... but they got free dinner out of it,at least.

What would be your ideal Valentine's Day?
My ideal Valentine's Day? This is a tough one. It could go one of two ways.... I love the idea of sitting at home with my hubby and kids curled up on the couch watching movies, playing games and drinking hot cocoa. Just being with the ones I love is enough. However, we could be together somewhere on a white sand beach basking in the sun and that would be alright by me too. :) Oh, and throw in some Orchids somewhere too!

Do you have a favorite Valentine's treat or craft that you do? If yes, please share. OR Favorite Valentine's item from your shop or favorite shop.

Up until this year I never considered myself "crafty" but there are a few things I have been dying to try. My children love cake pops ( and maybe I do too) so we plan on making some red and pink ones. Hopefully the kids will get a chance to make some cute Valentine's cars for their Grandparents.

Do you celebrate Valentine's Day just on the day, does it need to be on the day, and/or do you celebrate all month?
Personally I love to have some acknowledgement on the day but I don't think you have to celebrate it on the day. It is all about being with the one you love and as long as you are together the time or place does not matter. I think we have only celebrated Valentine's on the actual day a few times.

Valentine's Day is about celebrating the ones you love. What does LOVE mean to you?
Love means so much to me. It's virtually indescribable. I think this comes close, though. :)
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
New International Version (NIV)
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails

What is your most favorite thing about Valentine's Day?
I don't have one favorite thing but I can tell you that I am very excited this year for Valentine's Day because my kids will actually have an understanding of what it means. They will get to share in the celebration and partake in lots of fun activities I have planned for them.

Your special message to your Valentine...
To my hubby-
Thanks for sticking by me through all the peaks and valleys. Sometimes I feel like I have known you for forever and other times I look at you and feel like we just met. I am so proud of the father that you are and the way you love your family. You work so hard to provide for us and ask for so little in return. You are a man that I am proud to have stand beside me.

Valentine's Interview Series Day 8: Reannah @ Shaped by Grace

I'm so excited to bring you this special Valentine's Day series.  I came up with some questions that would help us to get to know what others may be thinking about Valentine's Day.  I wanted to know what makes it special for them, what is their fondest memories, and their favorite things to do on this special day.  Towards the end you will a special message for their Valentine.

Today's Interview is with Reannah from Shaped by Grace, here's what she has to say...
Reannah
[IMG_6104+2.jpg]What does Valentine's Day mean to you?
As a kid Valentine's Day used to mean candy and cards. Now it means making sure I give those I care about even more love and attention! Plus, it's an excuse to wear my favorite color {red}!

Share your most memorable Valentine's Day.
One of my most memorable Valentine's Days was when I was a kid. We had a dance in middle school and the boy I had a crush on asked me to dance! It was the first time I danced with a boy and I felt so cool. Oh, if life was still that simple.

What would be your ideal Valentine's Day?
This will be the first year in a while that I may actually have someone that I care about to celebrate Valentine's Day with - and I think that alone is enough. But since you're asking, ;-) I love flowers and I love surprises! So, I think if he were to plan a fun day together I would follow along happily and just enjoy spending the time together. I would also feel special if he wrote me a letter. :)

Do you have a favorite Valentine's treat or craft that you do? If yes, please share. OR Favorite Valentine's item from your shop or favorite shop.
I do! Every year I decorate the breakfast table special for my kids. The decorations and food are different every year, but one thing I do that is the same is I write my boys a letter telling them all the things I love about them! This year they are BOTH old enough to read the letters themselves!

Do you celebrate Valentine's Day just on the day, does it need to be on the day, and/or do you celebrate all month?
I love celebrating everything and Valentine's Day is no different! Now that I have a blog, I notice I start thinking about activities sooner - but usually we do special things that day and week. As for celebrating with that special someone - it doesn't have to be on the exact day - it can be close. My kids get something special on the day of and our house is decorated all month!

Valentine's Day is about celebrating the ones you love. What does LOVE mean to you?
Love is hugs and kisses from my boys and unconditional care and thought for someone else. I have learned that love is a choice and a commitment. You may not be able to control who you are attracted to, but you control who you love and are committed to. To me, that is the most beautiful love of all - to love unconditionally, actively, daily and selflessly.

What is your most favorite thing about Valentine's Day?
My most favorite thing about Valentine's Day is surprising my kids when they wake up in the morning with a special breakfast and seeing their faces as they read their letters. I also love that my friends, family and I all take the time to tell what we love about each other!

Your special message to your Valentine...
{Well, we've only been dating for about a month, so I'm keeping this answer a secret girls!}
